Let me share with you what has been happening over the summer in two of our churches:
Faith Baptist, Echo Bay
Faith had 33 kids join them for their Vacation Bible School, most of whom had no Christian training or minimal influence outside that week at VBS.
Pastor T.J. Telfer was able to serve at Galilean Bible Camp (a ministry of One Hope Canada, formerly CSSM) as their chapel speaker for Skills Camp in July. A record of four of Faith’s own kids attended camp and the church was grateful for the fact that Galilean offered a 'Light', and encouragement to the kids and teens that take part each summer.
On Aug 12th, Pastor Telford was examined by an Ordination Council – always a challenging and exciting time for the church and pastor. He was approved!
Riverside Baptist, Huntsville
Riverside had a terrific week of camp with a total registration of 128 campers, and a good mix of churched and unchurched. The largest one-day attendance was 113. There were a few wonderful stories of God at work in the lives of the children and their families. For instance, a young, single mom of 3 children with no transportation of her own sent the two oldest with one of our volunteers each morning and home with a different Riversider at the end of each day. This mom was starting a job that required specific footwear that she didn't have. A church family heard and promptly purchased the required shoes. Others have been helping practically, opening doors to address the family's spiritual need.
To God be the glory!
