Church Mergers
In their book, Better Together, Jim Tomberlin and Warren Bird say, "Mission driven church mergers have tremendous potential...to expand the impact of strong, vibrant churches as well as revitalize plateaued and declining churches."
Although this is a relatively new model for us, we are seeing some good examples of church mergers. Rebirth Mergers take place when a closed church gets a second life by being absorbed (donating its assets) to a health church, and then gets restarted by them. Adoption Mergers take place when a stable or stuck church is fully integrated under the vision of a stronger, vibrant, and typically larger church.
